Jumeirah Group sets sights on Scotland |

, the Dubai-based luxury hotel group and operator of the world famous Burj Al ArabBurj Al Arab, unveils plans to operate a five-star super deluxe hotel in Glasgow, Scotland.
This was announced yesterday by Charles Price, CEO of Progress Property Developments (PPD) and Guy Crawford, CEO of Jumeirah GroupJumeirah Group, at a signing ceremony in Glasgow.
The JumeirahJumeirah Glasgow Hotel, Jumeirah'sJumeirah's fifth hotel in Europe, is scheduled to open in 2011. It will be situated in Glasgow's International Financial Services District. Ian Simpson Architects will design the 25-storey development.
Guests will enjoy a range of leisure facilities which include an infinity pool, Jumeirah'sJumeirah's signature Talise Wellness spa, gym, rooftop cocktail lounge and several restaurants and bars. Extensive business and conference amenities will be supplemented by a 630-seat ballroom and a dedicated club lounge.
The hotel will comprise 160 rooms and suites and 85 serviced apartments.

Located in the heart of such a dynamic city, the JumeirahJumeirah Glasgow Hotel will be the perfect addition to our portfolio, in line with Jumeirah'sJumeirah's promise to stay different," Crawford said.
"Today's announcement is a resounding vote of confidence in Glasgow and its future ambitions, made all the sweeter by the fact that JumeirahJumeirah does not operate anywhere else in the United Kingdom outside London," said Councilor Steven Purcell, Leader of Glasgow City Council and Chair of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau.
