Auto industry should observe int'l standards |

A member of Majlis Industries and Mines Commission said that Iranian auto industry should move towards international standards to be successful on global markets.
Speaking to IRNA on the World Day of Standard on Tuesday, Mohammad Sajjadian said that quality and standards of domestically-produced cars are desirable but improving safety quotient is a necessity, which should be taken into account by automaking companies.
Sajjadian, who is legislator of Khaf and Rashtkhar, further referred to the desirability of the law for protecting consumers' rights and said that based on the law, if the automaker is found guilty by experts, it is duty-bound to compensate losses of life and property.
Stating that no complaint has so far been submitted to the commission regarding non-fulfillment of the law, he said that the commission is ready to review any complaint about the mechanism for the implementation of the law.
To join World Trade Organization and enter global markets, Iran should observe international standards, he noted.
Currently, every two Iranian family have a car on average and there are a total of seven to eight million cars in the country, he said, noting safety measures should be taken seriously.
Industries and Mines Commission is pursuing seriously the concept of safety in auto industry, he said.
