Air India sets non-stop Dubai-Pune flights

Gulf News

Dubai Wednesday, October 12, 2005

The city of Pune, popularly known as the Queen of Deccan, will get non-stop flights from Dubai with effect from December 12.

Pune, with its world famous educational institutions, its film institute, its IT and automobile industry, and the National Defence Academy, will be connected three times a week from Dubai, i.e. on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Air India flight AI-718 will leave Dubai at 4.30pm and arrive in Pune at 8.55pm. On the Pune-Dubai leg, flight AI-719 will leave Pune at 1.50pm and arrive in Dubai at 3.30pm on these days.

Previously passengers going to Pune had to travel to Mumbai and connect by any of the domestic carriers, or by road from Mumbai.

This direct connectivity will be a welcome relief for Dubai-based 'Punekars', whose city, known for its year-round salubrious climate, is also a gateway to the hill stations of Mahabaleswar, Lonavla and Khandala.

Air India will be the first carrier to offer international direct connectivity to this historic city.

I went to the dentist a few days ago for the first time in several years.  Part of the reason I put off going for so long was that I didn’t really want to hear the bad news.  I thought, if I’m not experiencing any tooth ache, there can’t be anything wrong. It turned out I had 10 cavities that need filling and a possible root canal. Although to look...
